I hope this message finds you well, and that the new year is off to a good start. As we step into 2024, I want to share a travel experience that was a delightful departure from my usual family-focused adventures. This time, it was all about a girl's trip to Miami, and let me tell you—it was exactly the trip that I needed!
After the hustle and bustle of holiday travel with family and teenagers, an opportunity presented itself, and I hopped on a plane bound for the sunny shores of Miami, where South Beach awaited with its vibrant energy and colorful backdrop.
The trip was a breath of fresh air, a chance to devote a few days to me and the nurturing of longtime friendships. Don't get me wrong—I adore family travel and the adventures shared with my teenagers. But let's face it, traveling with teens involves negotiations, meeting them where they are, and a constant juggle of preferences. This time, however, was all about relaxation, laughter, and making memories with my girlfriends.
Mornings were dedicated to movement and getting outdoors, with brisk walks along the sandy beach and bustling Ocean Drive lined with vintage cars.
One of the highlights of our trip was a spontaneous afternoon in the heart of Miami's street art scene—Wynwood Walls. The vibrant murals and graffiti spoke volumes about the city's creative spirit, leaving us inspired and in awe of the talent that touched every street corner.
Our evenings were spent discovering the diverse culinary scene Miami has to offer. A favorite was savoring authentic Cuban cuisine in Little Havana with minty mojitos and authentic Cuban sandwiches. I even brought a couple home with me on the plane to share the flavors with my family.
Reflecting on the experience, I couldn't help but imagine how much my teenagers would enjoy this city. The thought of sharing these moments of exploration and culture with them sparked an idea for future family travel. It also served as a reminder that balance is key—family adventures are precious, but so is the occasional escape to devote time to myself and strengthen friendships. As we venture into the year ahead, I encourage you to consider a girl's trip of your own!
Cheers to a year filled with exciting adventures and cherished moments.
